About Resident Insider

Resident Insider was built by two practicing US attendings. We’ve each been on every side of the match: student, applicant, resident, now attending.

We built this because we wished it existed when we were applying. The honest take on programs only happens behind closed doors, and that information shouldn’t be reserved for whoever happens to know the right person.

So we did. Medical students can anonymously message a verified resident at any program that has one — $50 Standard or $75 Priority, with a full refund if no answer arrives. Where a program has no insider yet, you can watch up to five programs and we’ll tell you the moment one verifies. Residents earn $25 Standard or $38 Priority per answer.

The Q&A is the heart of it, but every verified member gets more:

  • Free dashboard tools: Find Your Specialty and The Right Words (application emails worded to stay inside the Match rules) for MD/DO and IMG students, Find Your Residency with anonymous externship ratings for DPM students, Find Your Fellowship for verified DPM residents, and The Attending Leap (first-attending-job emails and a transition checklist) for verified MD/DO residents, plus, for students, a private Rotation/Externship Debrief log, an Interview Tracker, and a Rank List that turns both into a weighted rank order.
  • The Contract Decoder: A paid tool that reads a physician employment offer back to you in plain English, measured against common market terms. For verified MD/DO and DPM residents; first decode free, then a flat $50.
  • A private Lounge: An anonymous, members-only community where verified MD/DO and DPM residents talk candidly in degree-separated rooms, alongside an in-house library of career guides.
  • Open to anyone: A weekly editorial newsletter on the hidden curriculum with a searchable public archive, a public library of questions to ask a resident before you rank, free match statistics for MD/DO, DPM, and IMG applicants, and Resident Pay, an honest look at the real hourly wage behind every stipend.

We stay anonymous for the same reason our residents do: anonymity is what makes the truth possible. Professional retaliation for honest advice is a real risk in medicine, and the trust model that protects our residents also protects us.
